Nelumbo ID-WPI-2014-01 ist ein fein gezeichneter, kompakter Lotos, der aus einer befreundeten italienischen Gärtnerei zu uns kam und vermutlich ein Sämling ist. Die Sorte überzeugt durch eine ruhige Eleganz und eine sehr frühe Blühbereitschaft.

Die pfirsichrosa Blüten zeigen eine cremeweiße Nervatur, die den Blüten eine gebürstete Optik verleiht. Die lanzettförmigen Blütenblätter sind an den Spitzen dunkelrosa überhaucht. Im Zentrum sitzt ein goldgelber Blütenstempel, umgeben von cremeweißen Staubblättern – ein klar strukturiertes, harmonisches Gesamtbild.

Ein besonderer Vorteil ist die hohe Farbkonstanz: Diese Sorte verblasst im Alter deutlich weniger als viele andere Lotosblumen. Zudem beginnt Nelumbo ID-WPI-2014-01 früh im Jahr mit der Blüte und liefert damit frühzeitig sichtbaren Mehrwert.

Für die Kultur eignet sich die Sorte sehr gut in Pflanzgefäßen mit einem Volumen von ab 20 Litern. In dieser Größe erreicht sie eine Wuchshöhe von knapp 60 cm, bleibt kompakt, gesund und blühfreudig.

Nelumbo ID-WPI-2014-01 is a finely detailed, compact lotus that reached us from a friendly Italian nursery and is most likely a seedling. This cultivar stands out for its refined elegance and early flowering performance.

The peach-pink flowers feature creamy white veining, giving the petals a distinctive brushed appearance. The lance-shaped petals are softly tipped with dark pink. At the center sits a golden yellow seedpod, surrounded by creamy white stamens, creating a well-balanced and clearly structured bloom.

A key advantage is its excellent color stability: this variety fades far less with age than many other lotus cultivars. In addition, Nelumbo ID-WPI-2014-01 begins flowering early in the season, delivering early ornamental value.

This lotus performs very well in containers with a capacity of 20 liters or more. At this size, it reaches a height of just under 60 cm, remaining compact, healthy and reliably floriferous.
